Professor's O. Kozhekov monumental painting studio started its existence from the first day of the foundation of the academy- on 18th December 1917 and was led by M. Boychuk then, who was the founder of the well-known school of the monumental painting. The first specialists in the monumental painting graduated in 1922. Another monumental painting studio functioned at the same time under the leadership of L. Kramarenko since 1920. After the reorganization of art education in 1934 this specialization was abolished. In 1964 the training of specialists in the monumental painting was resumed on the initiative of V. Chekaniuk.
In 1967-1973 T. Yablonska, people's artist of Ukraine directed the studio. Then V. Chekaniuk, people's artist of Ukraine, took this place and led the studio for many years. Since 2000, when V.
