The studio began its work in 1993, when among creative studios of such famous artists as: V. Puzirkov, O. Lopukhov, V. Shatalin, V. Chekanyuk appeared three new studios, one of which - the studio of easel painting was headed by V. Gurin.
   In this studio together with People's Artist of Ukraine, Academician, professor V. Gurin work People's Artist of Ukraine, Academician, professor T. Golembievska and senior teacher A. Zorko. The teachers try to unite in their work and educational programme the best methodological achievements of the world school of painting with the possibility of free individual expression.
   The main task of the staff is, first of all, training of young artists, real professoinals who will bring the ideas of kindness into the world.
   In the studio the attention of a young painter is concentrated on the successive process of creation of the picture (sketch, foresketch, cardboard, drawing etc.) All this knowledge a future artist shows in his course picture which is done at the second term of the IV-th year of study.
   The students' choice of sketches is not restricted: it depends on a student himself, on his way of thinking, his ability. The themes of painting are different: modern, historical, landscape. Here is the short list of diploma works: pictures on modern themes - "Returning to life" by A. Belyalov, "The Land of Winds" by O. Popinova, "Calm" by K. Balkynda, "Autumn calm" by A. Dubrivka, "The Holiday of Kyiv" by K. Kutilov, "The Young" by K. Dvoyeglazova, "Indian summer" by T. Rimarenko and others; some pictures are dedicated to historical theme - such as: "Thinking of Gogol" by G. Kryukova, "Baptism" by T. Synelnik, "The Introduction of Christianity in Kyiv Rus" by Khyvrenko, "Cossacks are getting up" by T. Dzhus; some pictures have symbolical direction such as: "Eternity" by S. Brynyuk, "The Tree of Life" by L. Yakymashchenko, "Eternal Circle of Trials" by A. Lugovsky and etc.
   During the years of studying at this studio the students take part in different all-Ukrainian exhibitions and sometimes exhibit their works abroad. The best of students can continue their study at the post-graduate course.
   Some students became members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
   After graduation from the Academy young painters take an active part in the life of Union: they organize personal exhibitions, exhibit their pictures at all-Ukrainian and foreign exhibitions.
