The educational-creative studio of the theatre-decorative painting started its work in 1997, having risen from the studio of stage design of the professor D. Lider. The senior lecturer O. Burlin, which adheres to traditions of the teacher, became its head.
     The studio trains stage designers of musical theatrical performances, show-programs, and also artists - producers of drama theatres, cinema and TV.
     The task of the studio is to create favourable conditions for formation of the artist's personality acquainted with world experience of stage design, whose creativity is based on the high traditions of the Ukrainian scenic theatrical culture. During training at the studio students take possession of the experience of the outstanding masters in theatre-decorative art: O. K. Bohomazov, Ye. Lysyk, D. Lider, V. Miller, G. Narbut, F. Nirod etc.
     The basic task of stage design consists in the solution of an image of scenic space and is conceptually approached to modern directions in art. At the same time the program on composition is constructed taking into account the necessity of continuation of traditions of theatre-decorative painting school of our country and world experience of stage design. Using the newest computer technologies in the educational process helps effective mastering of professional knowledge, expands opportunities of creative searches of future artists of a stage.
