The educational-creative studio
of the professor Vitaliy Shostya

 

   The educational-creative studio of graphic design was opened at the academy in 1988. The selection of students for the studio was carried out already during entrance examinations.
     The program of training of artists in graphic design is worked out so that to ensure mutual penetration and addition of the basic and auxiliary disciplines, to teach students to take possession of necessary knowledge and skills and, the most important, to generate skill to think professionally, figuratively in them.
     Composition, font, computer graphics, photographics, classical printing techniques: etching, lithography, engraving, and also stencil sieve printing are of especial importance among disciplines on speciality. Great attention in the training of designers is given to drawing, painting, plastic anatomy, and theoretical disciplines.
     The base tasks: the poster (its varieties), sign and firm label, firm style, designing of packing, advertising calendar, design of the polygraphic edition, designing of font, also form the basis of the educational program of the course on composition. Thorough educational-methodical recommendations on the representational and constructive fulfilment of projects are worked out for each task.
     The leader of the studio defines its creative creed this way: " Design of the XXI century is a desire of full harmony of nature, man and fruits of his activity, dynamic balance of the past, present and future.
     The design projecting is art activity in its sense. Thus the way of design as an integrated creativity, as an organic alloy of high aesthetics with art form and practical value is actual nowadays.
     We determine design as a powerful and irreplaceable activity in the sphere of national culture with attributes, inherent in her, and characteristics of authentic spiritual genetics. Designer should bear personal ethical responsibility for consequences of influence of design on the man, surroundings, and culture.
     We understand design education, as preparation of students for qualitative changes. The main objective of the teacher is to develop students' creative abilities, to teach to see actively, to think, to feel, to be able and, the most important, to make decisions independently.
     We are convinced that pedagogical work is indispensably based on a respect for individuality. As if to art school, this base should have double safety factor.
     We consider necessary the formation of a special visual thinking of future designers as the precondition for art - design creativity.
     We confirm the studio as a creative laboratory, as an experimental field, where occurs formation of the designer - bright person, which works, develops in the system of general social culture and his time and actively influences them."
