The principles of teaching of book arts at the National Academy of Art and Architecture was founded by George Narbut, who was at the head of graphic arts studio in 1917-1920. During many years book composition was taught at the Academy by the famous ukrainian masters, such as: A. Sereda, I. Pleshchinsky, G. Yakutovich, M. Popov, V. Kasiyan, V. Chebanik.
In 1993 the scientific council of the Academy confirmed the formation of book graphic arts studio under the leadership of the docent G. Galinska (since 1996 - professor).
Teaching at this studio suggests complex approach to a book, as a compound well-organized system with all elements of book design and creation of the artistic book image, the main purpose of which is working out and creation of expressive illustrations.
The main principles of teaching process are lectures on theory and history of book arts, consultations, acquaintance with the most important events in modern book publication and practical work.
Studying at book graphic arts studio suggests the creation of a spiritual creative individual, a specialist of high professional level, who knows all artistic means of modern book arts.
During the years of existence of the studio of G. Galinska were trained many specialists. They work at different publishing houses.
