Was born in Dnipropetrovsk, on 5 August, 1917.
Sculptor. The member of the Academy of Art in Ukraine and the USSR, People's Artist of Ukraine and the USSR, the member of the National Artists Union in Ukraine, Lenin Prize Winner. World War II veteran. Graduated from Kyiv Fine Arts Institute in 1953 (M. Lysenko's studio). From 1953 till 1965 had creative work. From 1966 till 1973 - the Head of the Board of the Artists Union in Ukraine. Works in a field of monumental and easel plastics. Themes: images of history, portraits of famous people, memorial ensembles, monuments. Monumental works have wide dimensions and constructive accuracy, easel compositions - generalization and expressiveness of plastic forms. Works: easel compositions 'Youth' (1951), 'Ivan Bogun' (1953), 'The komsomol members were leaving' (1955-1957), series 'Au around Egypt' (1961-1964), 'To the memory of friend' (1974), 'The mother is waiting' (1985); portraits of P. Panch (1960), L. Revutsky (1961), V. Kasiyan (1973), T. Yablonska (1974); monumental sculpture the monument to M. Shchors (Kyiv, 1953-1954 as a co-worker): the monument to the founders of Kyiv (1982), the monument to Kovpak partizans in Yaremcha (1967), T.Shevchenko in the USA (Arrow -park, near New York City) (1970) and in Poland (BilybBir, 1986), P. Kalnyshevsky in Pustoviytivtsa (Sumy Region, 1992 as a co-worker). One of the authors of the memorial complex 'The National Museum of the aistory of World War II', composition 'Mother - Motherland' (1981, as a co-worker). Has been working in the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture since 1966. Since 1971 - professor. From 1966 till 1973 - the Rector of Kyiv Fine Arts Institute. Trains sculptors at post-graduates department.
