Art critic. Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine, the Candidate of art criticism.
Graduated from Leningrad Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture after I. Repin in 1957. Worked as a research worker in the Academy of Building and Architecture in Ukraine, the Institute of art criticism, folklore and ethnography after M. Rylsky (the Academy of Science in Ukraine). The main direction of scientific activities is the research of the history and modern problems of the Ukrainian Fine Arts. Scientific works: monographs - "Ukraine in art of I. Repin" (1963), "The artist and the contemporaneity" (1967), "Georgy V. Yakutovich" (1968), "The heroic emotions of the people's feat. The images and events of the World War II in Ukrainian Fine Arts (1941-1945)" (1970), "Georgy Malakhov" (1974), "The theme - idea - image. The tendencies of the development of the modern fine arts in Ukraine in 1945-1972" (1975), "Ukrainian soviet fine arts in the period of the Civil War" (1980), "The artist. Art. Time. Collected articles" (1982), the series of publications of the album type, problems investigations, articles, co-author of the fundamental editions ("The history Ukrainian Fine Arts", volume 2, book 2, 1970, volume 5, 1967, volume 6, 1968).
Has been working in the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture since 1974, since 1994 - professor. From 1974 till 1975 - the head of the chair of theory and history of art. Teaches courses on the history of Ukrainian art, art of the XIXth-XXth centuries, Russian art of the XXth century, special seminar on the art criticism.
