    Was born in Burimka village, Chernigiv Region on 23, April, 1926.
Painter and graphic. People's Artist of Ukraine, the member of the National Union of Artists in Ukraine. World War II veteran.
Graduated from Kyiv Fine Arts Institute (K. Trokhymenko's studio) in 1958. Teachers - V. Puzyrkov, V. Kostetsky.
Works in different genres of painting and kinds of graphic art. Pays much attention to historical themes and genre sujets. The main part of art devotes to the compositional portrait with developed genre basis; landscapes are famous for their lyricism.
Works: 'Walkers from Chernigiv Region' (1958), 'In the Desna River'(1966), triptych ' People of Chernigiv - heroes of October' (1967), 'Our class' (1970), 'Mothers' (1980), 'The feeling of united family' (1981), 'The Motherland in danger'(1985), 'Honta near Uman' (1991), 'Spiritual Ukraine' (1992-1997), 'The sun has set' (1995), 'Kachaniv suite' (1947); portraits devoted to the cultural workers in Ukraine; graphic art - portraits for newspapers, illustrations to works by N. Shevchenko, V. Bolshak, P. Voronko, O. Honchar, O. Kolomiyets.
Has been teaching in the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture since 1961 (the chair of painting), since 1972 (the chair of drawing), since 1983 - professor.
